Peer Learning Session at SRCS: Foundations of Literacy: Effective Phonics Instruction

A peer learning session on "Foundations of Literacy: Effective Phonics Instruction" was conducted for dedicated teachers by Ma’am Vinita Singh (Coordinator - Pre - Primary Wing).
We didn’t just talk about phonics, we experienced it. From blending and segmenting games to understanding the science behind how children learn to read, the session was completely hands-on and multi-sensory. Participants discussed why phonics is the bedrock of early reading, how systematic & synthetic phonics builds strong decoding skills, and shared classroom-ready strategies that teachers can implement from tomorrow. 
The highlight was seeing educators actively engage in word-building activities, live demos, and micro-lesson planning — all leaving with renewed confidence to build strong readers from day one. 
The objective of the session was to equip educators with evidence-based strategies to strengthen early reading skills among students. The workshop moved beyond theoretical discussions, offering a hands-on, multi-sensory experience to all participants.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation, with teachers appreciating the practical approach and takeaways. The training reinforced the belief that *reading opens the world, and it all starts with a sound.
